OPERA HOUSE TO-NIGHT. "THE PALACE OF PLEASURE." AND WEE JACKIE HARRIS. Romance and adventure, conflict and intrigue —they arc the ingredients that tempt the imagination, they are story elements you love to see when you go to the movies. The. most - delightful comomation of them is to he seen m the Fox Films production, "The Palace of Pleasure," which is to be Anally screened at the Opera House to-night. Hero is a piece of .screen entertainment that seizes the interest of the spectator and shuts out the world of reality for more than. an hour. Edmund Lowe as a dashing royalist, Betty Compson as the beautiful Lola Monte/, and Henry Kolker as a powerful Prepiier, aTe the principals about whom the story revolves. The plot moves in a whirlwind of action that distinguishes it as a flnely conceived story that has received excellent treatment at the hands of Director Emmett Flynn. Wee Jackie Harris appeared again last evening in a complete change of programme and was aplauded to the echo by a full house. He appears again this evening and every night this 'week. Air item of '.special interest to H/awera theatregoers is that they are to have a visit from this talented band of entertainers after an absence- of many years. Since leaving New-Zealand the company have had 'long, seasons in every capital city of Australia-, including a record season of 14 weeks- at the J. C. Williamson Garden Theatre. Adelaide. Doris Pretty, Thelma Trott, Allan K-itson, Billy Barry, Bessie White, Tom Hardy, Ralph Hedley; Evladne Royle, and Marie Landon, and the famous Ragtime quartette. Commenting on the opening performance- in Brisbane! -the Courier, of 5/4/26, said: “The verdict of last night’s huge audience upon the excellence of the Humphrey Bishop Company has insured the (success of their whole iseason —in fact, Mr. Bishop had the greatest difficulty in proceeding with his programme by the enthusiastic msistence of the audience in asking for more.
