* (From Our Own Correspondent). VICAR’S NEW APPOINTMENT.. Rev. A. C. Swainson, vicar of St. Outhbert’s Church, Manaia, has accepted a call to Plimmertoii, and will be leaving Manaia .at the end) of January. The citizens of Manaia and district regret very much his departure. The Rev. A. C. Swainson has been .vicar at Manaia for ia period of six years, and was well esteemed and a very enthusiastic member of the Cricket Club. Mrs Swainson will be also much missed by her many friends. A meeting of all interested in a farewell gathering to the vicar will be held in the Town Hall. Manaia, on Tuesday next at 7.15 p.m. Rev. Solomon, vicar of Opunake, will replace Rev. A. C. Swainson at Manaia. BRASS BAND. At a meeting of the Manaia Municipal Brass Band, held last evening, it was decided to p’ay a programme at the Ivaupokonui beach on Sunday, January-30, in aid of the seaside domain fund, commencing at 1.30 pm. The Ivaupokonui Seaside Society are catering well for the public, and the beach is being well patronised.
