VALEDICTORY
At- an afternoon function a presentation was made to Mrs. Poynter, at the residence of Mrs. R. F. S. Craig, > Manaia, on Friday, by the ladies of the Manaia Plunkett Society. Mrs. Poynter, who is leaving Manaia to reside in Balclutha, South Island, was secretary of the local branch of the society for a lengthy period, and has always taken a- special interest in the work. The president, Mrs. T. C. Sutherland, eulogised tlie good work done by the guest during her residence in 'Manaia, and expressed regret at her departure. She presented a crystal bowl to /Mrs. Poynter. Mrs. Poynter suitably responded, after which afternoon tea was dispensed. ' Airs. A. Gamlin was duly elected see? retary of the local branch.
