Elaborate preparations for an enjoyable entertainment have boon made by the committee in charge of the masquerade plain and fancy dress ball to be held in the Foresters’. Hall next Tuesday evening in aid of the Hawera Highland Pipe Band. Substantial prizes have been offered for fancy costumes in three classes, —fancy, comic and poster. A number of novelty contests' which include an open waltz championship, reverse waltz, card, and balloon dances will add to the attraction. At. present no less than 14 awards have been arranged for. Music will be provided by the Kilties’ orchestra of six instruments, and special attention is being paid to the table supper. Masks will be compulsory with fancy costume until after the judging, and this in itself should give rise for (considerable conjecture and amusement.
