However, the day. of fancy prices would appear to be over, the top figures for big bullocks, -apart- from one special case, being £24 to £2B 10s. The exception, was a Friesian -bullock which -weighed 3333 lbs as a six-year old, and which is claimed to be the heaviest bullock in Australasia. It was bought, by a local butcher at £9O the vendor being -Sir. A. J. Keith (Ashburton). . Fat -Sheep.—Generally values, though easier over the earlier stages for ordinary sheep, firmed up over the later stages. Show .sheep made £2 10s to £5, prime wethers 33s bcl to <lQs, others. 28s to 335; prune ewes 26s to 345, extra to, 41s, show hoggets to 51s 4d, others 24s 6d to 29s 6d. Fat Cattle.—The sale was irregula; over the early stages, but concluded with a hardening tone. Show bullock: - , sold at £23 to £23 10s, extra -heavy steers £lB 15s to £22, heavy prune £ls 10s to £.lB, prime medium £l3 10-s, to £l3, medium quality steers £lO to £l3 extra prime heifers' to £l4 12s 6d. prime £9 to £ll 10s,. extra prime cows; to £l4 7s 6d, prime £8 -10 s to £ll. Dairy Cattle.—A small entry and slightly better values. Best springers made- £7 to- £lO 10s, others £2 to £6 15s, heifers £5 lOsi to £8 15s. Pigs.—Some exceptionally good baconers .were forward. Choppers 'sold from £4 to £l6, ba-coners £5 10« to- £/ ss; average price per lb, 9cl to 94d. Porkers 55s to 83s; .average - price per I'b lOd to lid.
