I went to the settling tanks, the river being in flood. I could not clean, them out, but using the flood water I was able to scour "out the outlet pipes with good effect. All the fire plugs in the town have been cleaned up.

A proposal was brought forward by Cr. Innes that action should be taken to secure permission for making revenue from water and sewerage supply applicable to loan account instead of general account as at present required. The revenue thus accrued would, he pointed out, assist in meeting the loan charges and would enable a certain reduction in the rate required. ll© suggested that, the Government might be requested to include a clause in the Washing-Up Bill giving the authority. Cr. Innes was appointed to instigate inquiries on the subject. lb O’Connor wrote applying for a license to conduct the billiard saloon at present controlled by W. Bairstow.— The license, was granted. A letter received front the borough inspector, New Plymouth, with reference to flic adoption of metal plate identification discs for use on motor lorries.' It was mentioned that, as compared with tho adhesive paper discs which, it was proposed, the metal discs should replace, the latter would entail unnecessary expense in making provision for the various classes.—The letter was received.

Accounts totalling £SO3 were passed for payment.
