MOCK 'WEDDING AND BANQUET
Under 4,he auspices, of tbe Bawera Alethodisit Bible Classes a mock wedding, followed by- a banquet, was held in the. 'Wesley Hall last, evening. Neariy two hundred people, were present, among them being visitors from Stratford, Kaponga, i'ilia.ma and Rahotu. The function proved a conspicuous success. T. 1 -
The proceedings opened with the mock wedding, in which the following people took part : “The Riav. Squibbs,”' Mr. Y. Thomas; “The Bride,” AIr.AY. Carter; “Bridegroom,” Mr. A. Lawn; “Best Alan,” Air. A. Walker; Bridesmaids,” blisses Al. Hurral! and Al. Dixon; “Flower-girl,” Miss AI. Campbell; “Groomsman,” Air. S. Carter; “Page,” Air. L. Walker. Other.parts were taken by Alias J. Tonks and -Vr. Li. Huilbeit. The participants in the mock wedding were heartily congratulated upon their amusing pj,. f.n-hi-ance, which indicated considerab— preparation. ■ ‘ -T
Alias 'l>. Bates was the supervisor and Air. J. T'hoi mbe.r the accompanist. The banquet followed and was-open-ed by a. toast to the King. Following toasts to -the: performers Tn the. cereuiiony. Air. P. Harding (K'aponga) proposed the health of the “Taranaki Bible Class Union,” instancing the help, the classes were to the' cliureh. .The Revs. W. J. Oxbrow ('Bawera), G. P. llnfi t (Stoatfont) and Air. Pettigrew (Piha.ma) replied. “The visitors, a;ihits and ladies'" was proposed by MiV J. Foy and replied 10 by the Rev. Air.' Blaik'ciiiiorc (Kaponga). and Air. Andrews (.Rahotu). V Dining sthe evening entertainment was provided as follows: Songs'. - Miss \V. All J Is, Messrs Piper. W. Campbell, and Pen fold; recitation. Alms L, Bullock: violin solo. Al a ster L. Fox.
