BURGLARS AT AUCKLAND
(by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 5. Burglars made an ineffectual attempt last night (to enter the premises of Hancock .and Co’,s. spirit store and the offices of Grey and Meuzies, cordial manufacturers. In the first instance, holes were chiselled in two doors, but the locks remained intact, and in the latter, two doors had been attacked with a jemmy. The office, door resisted, but the door into the managing director’s room, yielded, but-the intruders evidently failed in their quest., departing with a bottle and’ a half of whisky. ’
