3IORIE REMITS DEALT WITH

A;t tho Dominion Farmers’ Union conference, a Marlborough remit for an iimport duty on chaff was lost.
It was agreed that the importation of any exotic plant, bird or animal oe prohibited except through the Agricultural Department and that the department shall .accept responsibility for any damage by such importation.
It was resolved that the Government carry out the closest investigation, into the meat ime.ans tor the extinction of borer insects.
A remit that the Upper House be elected as provided by the law was negatived on the casting vote of the acting president, Mr. Matheson. A remit was adopted that it be compulsory by law that all pedigree dairy stock be .examined for tubercular . disease, and when offered for sale to be accompanied by a tubercular certified e.
