Total for eight wickets 417 Collins won the toss and decided to bat.
The Warwickshire team is: Calthorpe, Partridge, Riddian-Green, Hewetson, Wyatt, Quaife, Parsons, Bates, Santal] Norman, Kilner, Smith. From the Australian team Oldfield, Richardson, Grimmett, Everett, and Andrews are- omitted. The attendance reached 15,000.
Pon-sford and Woodfull, after a slow ■start, opened out and hit freely, every other ball producing runs. They put -on 17 before ’Woodfull was. beaten. The bowlers maintained a good length, but caused little trouble, thouglr Hewiteon at times induced the batsmen to be cautious. Frequent changes in bowling had little effect on’ the batsmen, who were confident, but not scintillating. Pons ford’® exhibition, was delightful, and was marked bv powerful drives to on, cuts and pulls varied with periodica] eg glances. He hit 15 fours. Collins showed lack of practice. He was also hampered hv an injured wrist, nevertheless he gave a- sound display of offdrives and leg hits. —Reuter.
