INCREASE ON EASTERN SERVICES.

Shipping companies trading to China and Japan have decided to increase freight rates for a number of lines of general cargo loaded at Australian ports. The increase, which is 5s per ton, or approximately 10 per cent, has been found necessary owing to heavier running expenses.
