TROTTING TATTLE.

FIXTURES. -j' ; i July 22 —-Waimate Hunt, one event. July 24—South Canterbury Hunt, one event. _ _ Aug. 7, H, 13—N.Z. Aletropolitan T.C. ' ■- ■ \ - ■ A ,- a • FORAI AT AUCKLAND. (By ‘/Limit;”) The Auckland Trotting -Club was very fortunate in having fine weather for its two clays’ winter meeting, and the racing throughout was very- interesting and some fine finishes were witnessed. Imprint was produced twice on the first day, but fourth was the nearest place she filled. However, she made amends by winning’the Prince of Wales Handicap on the second day in rattling good style. . . , Pyrainus won tlie two mile trotters race from 72 yards behind, and her win will he much appreciated by her supporters, as she has been, running now for quite a while without success. P. Riddle decided not to make the journey to Auckland with Parkwood and Dixie Fox, but wilL wait for the spring mootings. The South Island horses always get their-share of the stake money'when they come to Auckland, and they finished first, second and third in the big race on the first day, besides finishing, first in four other events. Bessie Logan is racing into form and a stake is not far away. Outsiders were the order of the day on Saturday, as only one first favourite filled a place. • Sister Beatrice did not go away too well on the first day, and then was unlucky not- to win. She is a ; young horse yet, and time will find her running in first-class company. Nelson Ala came North with a good reputation, and ho maintained it by winning the Winter Handicap. The weather prior to the meeting was the cause of the slow times registered. Cardinal Logan gave his supporters a good run in the Campbell Handicap, and four furlongs from home looked like tho winner; hut Logan Lue raced him gamely and beat him -home in a good finish. Bawldy Loeanda effected a big surprise by winning the Mangere Handicap, and returned a good dividend. Stanmoor, ran prominently on the first day and was allowed to g 6 out on tho second and pay a false price. * Sea Pearl followed up her success by winning the Adams ’ Memorial, and she has a lot left yet. Keep her in mind. Marshal Neil promises to flourish into a fine pacer. He is now only a three-year-old. He got on the winning list at Hastings, and the way he finished in the Hobson Handicap seems to suggest. he does not lack speed; Jean Darling is no dud. She led the field on the first day, but when produced on the second collected the money. Some little time back it was rumoured that A. Fleming was going- out of the trotting game, and the report seems to have a little truth in it, as Loeanda Alack and Double Event have been, transferred to G. S. Smith, of New Brighton. Too much -use was made of Imprint in the Campbell Handicap over the early stages of the race, and a more patiently driven race.may have given a better result. • . Van Cap was a cjuiet tip on the first day, but ran a very disappointing race,
