MR COOK’S ATTITUDE. IN BRITISH COAL CRISIS AFFRONT TQ MR. BALDWIN. BY CABLE —PBES3 ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT. Received 10.35 a.m. to-day. LONDON, June 27. Mr. A. J. Cook, the miners’ secretary, adopted a more moderate attitude in a speech at Tam worth, when he urged that the time had arrived for an armistice, and the Government should drop the Eight-hour Bill and arrange a conference. It is believed, however, that Mr. ■Baldwin will refuse to meet Mr. Cook again until he apologises for a recent speech in which he called Air. Baldwin a liar. Mr. Baldwin regards it not only as a personal affront,/but also as directed against the Prime Minister.
