THE SMILE CASTLE A CORNER ESPECIALLY FOR CHILDREN.

THE CASTLE PLEDGE. X promise to smile every time I can, and to chase all the frowns into the dark cave, where the Smile Giant will kill them with his Magic Sword Happiness. It Dear Girls and Boys, I am going to be very brief to-night, for, as so many of you have been reminding me in your letters, Jack Frost is abroad, and all of us must keep moving to escape his grip. But, in more ways than one, we should be thankful for the frosts and the’cold weather. Nothing to be very thankful for in blue noses, cold ears and chilblains, I suppose you think. No, there’s not; but wc might not have so green a Spring, so pleasant a Summer, or so fruitful an Autumn were it not for the frosty nights of Winter. Why? Well, I’m not telling yet. Just you try to think of the good Jack Frost does, and of anything you and I may learn from his methods. Then, perhaps -next Saturday night, we may have another talk about it. Most of Nature’s agents have their work in the world, and I fancy our nippy friend has his, too. What do you think? Now, then, a rough and tumble to get warm. Off! Cheerily yours,

THE SMILE QUEEN,
