CARDINALS ARRIVE AT CHICAGO FESTIVITIES INAUGURATED. BY CARLE—PRESS ARSGCIATION--COPYRIGHI Received 1.30 p.m. t-o-day. NEW YORK, June 17. Cardinal Alundelein met nine cardinals on their arrival at Chicago from New York for the Eucharistic Congress. A’huge crowd had gathered: at the station, to whom the Papal delegate, Cardinal Bonzano, bowed graciously from the observation car’s platform. The arrival of the party was greeted with the blowing of steam whistles from the railroad, yards l , horns from the lakeboats, and the ringing of chimes from all Catholic churches. Cardinal Mundelein embraced; Cardinal Bonzano. and extended a welcome in the name of the church, city, and friendship. The congress will not be opened officially until the 20th, but the festivities have now been informally inaugurated. It is expected that pilgrims will pay reverence to the Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist liefore they are ended. —A. and N.Z. Assn.
