At- the conclusion of the inquest on the death of Frederick Witty, who was killed on the North road on March 8, the coroner returned a verdict “thfit deceased, met his death through being run over by a car driven by John Guy Dennison” (says a Press Association message from Invercargill). Dennison is the engineer engaged by the Southland Comity Council. to - supervise the work of bitumenising the North road. Evidence showed that the deceased, who was' riding a bicycle, had been struck from behind and thrown against the windscreen.
