MOTORING FATALITY

ACCIDENT AT AUCKLAND. MOTOR AND TRAM COLLIDE. ONE DEAD AND TWO HURT. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, March 26. A serious motor accident occurred at the corner c>f Anzac Avenue and Beach Read at six o'clock to-night, resulting in the' death of one of the occupants of a motor oar which. caane into* violent collision with a tramear. The motor car was being driven down Anaao Avenue and crossed two sets of tram rails on Beach Road. After crossing the rails the motor apparently swerved back on to the rails, the collision then o ecu ling with great -violence. The force of the impact wrecked the motor car, while tlie front platform of the tram was somewhat dlamaged. It was at once seen that three of the occupants of' the motor car were injured, two very seriously. They were hurried to hospital, where Frank Wilson, of Hamilton, died shortly after admission from grave head injuries. A. Z. Dickson, of Wainui House, Symonds Street', sustained very serious head injuries and is still unconscious, and Leonard Jackson, of Hamilton, also received head injuries, but his condition is not considered serious. The victims of the Anzac Avenue accident were returning from a bowling tournament match between retail and wholesale dtapery firms of the province, held on the Auckland Club’is* green. Dickson was still unconscious' this morning, and Jackson is progressing well. Wilson, who was killed, was a Well-known resident of Hamilton, aged 54. He was the son of the late Mr. Adam Wilson, of the firm of Wilson, Williams and McCullough, drapers of Auckland. In. his early days he was. a prominent athlete and attained to some success ais a runner. Later he w&s connected with tlie firm' of Adair and Co., of Napier, till he entered in to business .as a mercer at Hamilton twenty years ago. He frequently represented the Hamilton Bowling Club' at provincial and Dominion tournaments. He leaves a widow and three children, the eldest'of whom is Ift and the youngest 15 year.® of age.
