FORTUNE FOR SECRETARY
The will of Mr. James Chapman, a Sheffield tool manufacturer, who died worth £40,14(1, contains a generous bequest “for long and faithful service'’ to May Baum, who was his secretary for twenty years. He left her £5500, his household furniture, motor-car, the use of his residence, and the income from £SOOO. She is appointed one of the executors of the will. Miss Baum oegan as a bookkeeper in Mr. Chapman’s firm, and succeeded her sister, Mrs. Laid law, of Glasgow, as his secretary. When the business was converted into a company she was appointed secretary, and two years ago she was made a director. There are also bequests of £2OO each to four men employees of the firm. The residue of the estate is divided among certain .Sheffield charities.
