'The secretary of the Taranaki Cricket Association (Mr J Nielsen) has received advice from the Auckland Association that it was pleased to agree to a match against Taranaki at Eastei, the game to bC played on Good hndav and Saturday. PLAY IN SOUTH TARANAKI. THIRD ROUND DECIDED ON. Details in connection with cricket in South Taranaki were arranged at a meeting of the Southern Division whicli met at Hawera last evening. There were present: Messrs R. Penny (Okaiawa) in the chair, J. Neilsen, T. MeKenzie and W. G. Walkley (Hawera), C. Watson and G. Stevenson (Manaia), A. 0. Hemingway and M. Priest (Eltham). , . It was decided to play a third round, and on a toss it was further decided to adopt the fixtures of the second. round. A letter from each of the Stratford and Manaia Clubs necessitated the division arriving at a decision in connection with the Stratford-Manaia match which was to have been played On November 21. The Manaia delegates stated that Stratford did not fulfil its engagement, and Manaia therefore claimed a forfeiture. A letter from the Stratford Club stated that it had been under the impression that all matches had been postponed that week, and Manaia had agreed to replav the match. Mr C. Watson said that Manaia knew nothing of any arrangement with Stratford. Manaia felt that it was entitled to the match for the following reasons: (1) All other matches were played on that clay. (2) The Manaia Club was put to the expense of arranging tea. (3) Two. of the Manaia players iourneved nine miles in order to play. ’ (4) One of the Manaia players paid a man to do his work on the day in question, (o) The Manaia team had the ground prepared and had assembled readv for plav. The chairman said that there was one of the division’s rules which stated that anv team which did not arrive on the ground within 30 minutes of the time fixed for commencing play forfeited the game, but might appeal against forfeiture in case of accident or any other good cause. It was stated that some held the opinion that the match should he replnved under the same conditions —that was, Stratford to play minus the four representative players who would not have been able* to plav on the date of the disputed fixture.

Mr C. Watson said that the position was that some of the Manain players were leaving the district, and also.it would he difficult to arrange a suitable dnv for a further match. Hi 1 Wnlklev' moved that owing to the onoratioil of Rule 5, and in view of the difficulty in arranging a replay, and also in view of the fact that Manaia had all its players on the ground, that two of its nlavers travelled nine miles, that, tbov were put to the expense of afternoon tea, the match he awarded to AT-.mia
