A NICHT WT BURNS.
MONDAY’S FUNCTION. Lovers of Burns are again reminded of the gathering to be held in his honour on Monday evening next in the Foresters’ Hall. The passage of time and march of events serve but to show up the more vividly the genius of the man and the insight of his message. A man before his time and among a people who failed largely to appreciate him lie is more and more coming into his kingdom in the hearts of men and women of all races and creeds. A varied programme has been arranged and the Scottish Society choir will sing several favourite airs. In addition Tam O’Shanter’s midnight ploys will be recounted. Hawera is fortunate in being able to get Hon. James Cragie, of Timaru, to give the address, and it confidently anticipated that he will be greeted by a large and enthusiastic gathering.
