BOY SCOUTS.

HAW ERA TROOP AT DUNEDIN. INTERESTING HX PERI BNCES. A letter received by Mr. E. Dixon from Scoutmaster C. Hitchcock, ol the Hawera troop, shows that the boys from this town, who were fortunate in going to the Jamboree in Dunedin, have been having a great time altogether and were received and are being treated very well indeed. Mr. Hitchcock says that the ceremony of “Hoisting, the Flag in the morning is a sight one would never forget and he would like the committee- to have been able to see it conducted. There are in a,ll twelve hundred boys and all were on parade. Referring to the competitions, he said they were unable to enter because one or two. who had been training for the events, were at the last moment unable to make the trip and the troop was therefore -short in number. But they have been asked, he adds, to put on a demonstration at the Educational Depitment. Mr. C. A. Struck made the request and they were to give it on Tuesday night. The demonstration would comprise first aid by B. Sargeson, J. Philips, B. Ashton. J. Whiting, with B. Vinten a.s patient; morse signalling by J. Whiting; and oy' B. Sangeson, J. Philips, R. Ashton, and J. Whiting in improvising a stretcher..

The master concludes by saying that the boys are behaving well and that he could not, wish for better boys. Enclosed was a form of seivice for use at -the Jamboree, the first to be belli in the Dominion. This includes three prayers by the Chaplain, lesson and address, and appropriate hymns, the servile concluding with the National Anthem.
