The Royal College of Surgeons decidetl to terminate the .suspension of Dr. Ax ham, aged 86, who was deprived oi his. right to practise in 1912 because lie assisted Sir H. A. Barker, the bonesetter, by administering anaesthetics while Sir Hi. A. Barker was operating. Dr. Axham’s case aroused much discussion in the newspapers, the public considering that Dr. Axham Avas unjustly treated, especially as Sir H. A. Barker was knighted. The effect of the decision is that Dr. Axham can now apply to the (tenoral Medical Council to have his name restored to the list of medical practitioners. In an uteri vow Dr. Axham .said: “I am an ohl man now, but my last days will I ye* made happier. 1 shall lodge an appeal immediately. I am longing now to see some friends and colleagues whom I have not seen lor many years. ■Sir H. A. Barker says: “Dr. Axham first came to see me operate iu 1905. He watched me for forty-five afternoons. Then lie said lie was convinced that it was his duty as a qualified man to administer anaestlietios for me. He believed what lie did was a public duty. Trie never hesitated and paid the pen-, a'ity by the loss of hi.- professional status.' which has lasted for fifteen vears. ”
