MANGATOKI

(From a correspondent.) FARMERS’ UNION. The usual fortnightly euchre party and dance was held umter the auspices of the Mangatoki branch of the Farmers’ Union in the hall last Friday light. About eighty players sat down to the table* and the winners of the ten games played were : Mr.. D. Gower, (Elthain) with nine games, for the men, and Mrs. K. Marx, (Mangatoki) with nine games, for the ladies. After supper, dancing wa* indulged in till the early morning. Mrs. B. Johnson supl:ed the music, whilst Mr. J. Mc- ' linncss officiated as M.C. TENNIS CLUB. On July 8 the Mangatoki Tennis Club held its annual ball, the hall being prettily decorated with coloured streamers, tenni s nets and racquets. Music was supplied by Boulton’s Orchestra of three instruments. Owing to the numerous counter-attractions only about 40 couples took the floor. This was disappointing, but all present had a very injoyable time; dancing being carried on until 2 a.nr. The duties of M’c.C were ably carried out bv Mr. L. Pease and Mr. C. Astbury.
