The Australian hockey placers met the Waikato team to-day, land • wretched weather suffered defeat by three goals to one. Waikato’s more vigorous hitting was the deciding factor. The visitors iorwantlw were unable to develop their attack smartly, •while the Waikato litiilveH were strong. In the noddle of the first spellL Finch (Waikato) shot, dark stopped, but Tarr followed m and netted. From loose play near the circle Finch obtained and scored. Til the middle <>l the second spell! Booth shot hard from the wing, putting Waikato up, Australia were playing with determination, and a series of well-executed movements ended in Grey scoring.
