Meetings have been called of the various branches of the Federated Seamen’s Union to reconsider the threat issued to shipowners that the men will be withdrawn to-morrow if their demands are not conceded. A conference lias also been called by the Commonwealth Owners’ Association of all shipowners, at which a common understanding on their attitude towards the seamen’s demand will be sought.
