DUKE OF YORK.
MAY VISIT NEW ZEALAND. <SY Cable—press association—copyright, (Received July 11, 10.35 a.m.) LONDON, July 10. The Duke and Duchess of York were the guests of the Australian and New Zealand Luncheon Club at the Hotel Cecil. The Premier of Ontario (Mr G. H. Ferguson) was also present. Mr Newton Moore proposed the Duke of York's health. He paid a tribute to the ambassadorial value of the tours of the Prince of Wales in cementing the Empire’s ties. They looked forward to the time when Australia and New Zealand would he honoured from the Duke and Duchess of York by a visit, whose welcome would not fall short of that given to the Prince of Wales.
The Duke laughingly said he felt that the Prince of Wales had an unfair advantage, because he greeted the overseas visitors with the knowledge of them and their countries: My wife and I, by visits to Wembley Exhibition. are trying to supplement our knowledge, but I am still acting the part of Cinderella, who is told wonderful stories of the world which she was permitted to enter. However, I entertain the hope that we will yet be privileged to enjoy Australia’s and New Zealand’s delightful hospitality. —A. and N.Z. Assn.
