It was decided -to .suggest- to the ladies of the executive- of the central and southern division of the union that a basket ball tourney be held at Eltham after the August holidays, and that the northern division be asked to participate. Mr. H. Rl. Coombs, secretary of the New Zealand Rugby Union, forwarded 109 copies of -the new football text books on Rugby for use in schools throughout the Dominion. The union asked that one copy be distributed free to every primary and secondary school desiring to have one. The book is n very comprehensive manual on Rugby football and includes passages from such men as AY. J. AA'allace and M. F. Nicholls. There -are also diagrams and- photos to guide teachers in the coaching of teams. The matter of arranging a date for the playing of the annual representative match against AVnnganui -at New Plymouth- was left in the bauds of Air. F. AY. Mason, of Pih.ama. Trials in connection with the selection of the Taranaki team will he proceeded with immediately. Air. Ala-son was authorised to carry out the trial matches in the south and south-western district.

Owing to the .short school year, oocaisioned by the epidemic. it was resolved to abandon the annual football tourney for this year. Mr. J. Matthews, headmaster of the Patea School, advised, in reply to an inquiry from the union that school football in his district was in full swing, and competitions wove already be in" carried out. Air. Allan, of the M.anaia School, was appointed organiser for the southwestern district in place -of Mr. A. F. Konore, resigned.
