INTER-EMPIRE TRADE.

ANOTHER CANADIAN AGREEMENT. BY CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT OTTAWA, July 8. The text of the trade agreement between the West Indies and Canada shows that the former gives Canada tariff preference in flour, butter, cheese, lard, condensed milk, meats of all kinds, fish, apples and potatoes. The agreement provides for two steamship services, passenger, mail and freight, fortnightly from Canadian ocean ports all the year round, and a second service of smaller vessels from Canadian river ports in summer and ocean ports in winter. All freight rates are subject to control by the Canadian Government.

Toward the service the West Indies contribute £29.009 annually, and an additional subsidy for certain calls by steamers. Canada extends tariff preference to a large list of tropical products.
