ROAD TO AUCKLAND.
FLOODS AT MERCER. CAPS TRANSHIPPED BY BOAT. Enquiry by the secretary of the South Taranaki Automobile Association (Mr W. G. Walkley) as to the condition of the road through to Auckland yesterday resulted in the following telegram being received from the Automobile Association’s service officer at Auckland: “Floods at Mercer still high. Roose Shipping Company transferring cars. Only 12 inches of water on road between Ohinemuri and Rangiriri. Road s passable.” A telegram received from the postmaster at Awakino stated that the road between Te Kufti and Awakino was in fair order.
