FIGHT ON A ROOF. PRISONER RECAPTURED. BY CABLE—PRESI. ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received July 9, 2.20 p.m.) LONDON, July 8. Police warders at midnight thought to surprise the Parkhurst prisoner who escaped from the prison chapel and took refuge on the roof, hut he was wide awake. Sheltered behind a chimney, he sent out a fusilade of slates, but the warders were not hurt and overpowered the convict, whom they roped up and lowered to the ground. He had been without food for 38 hours. —A. and N.Z. Assn.
