T'he Governor, the Earl of St radbroke, in the Victoria State Parliament lor th<a last time before his term, of office expires, took the opportunity to -bid farewell to the Government and the people. His State speech, contained no surprises. A commission would be set up to reeasL the seats in the Legislative Assembly; ta scheme of road construction involving an annual expenditure of two million sterling, with an additional ono nmlion grant from the Commonwealth Government for five years would be en tered upoji; a measure won id be submitted for the establishment of a. compulsory wheat pool with a, guarantee of* seventy-five per cent, by the State. The Government proposes that henceforth Anza'e Day will he a public holiday.
