- CLASSES FOR EX-CONSTABLES. The last has not been of the Melbourne police strike in 1923. Plans are being formulated by the Reinstatement Association to make the question of reinstatement a vital one. at the forthcoming State elections. It is expected that. 30 former constables will become speakers on the election platform, and to this end the Trades Hall intends starting classes to teach cxpolice outdoor platform speaking. The classes are to be under Mr F. .T. Riley, a. former member.of the Sydney Coal Lumpers’ Union, who is now secretary of the Manufacturing Grocers’ Union. About 12 years ago Mr Riley tried for political honours 'in Neiv South Wales, when he stood as Socialist candidate for Darling Harbour.
