TOBACCO PRICES.
INCREASED IN FRANCE.
BY CABLE—I>RESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT PARIS, May 14. As a result of M. Caillaux’s Budget, the price of the cheapest tobacco has increased by 40 per cent, and other brands of pipe tobacco and cigarettes 25 per cent. Cigar prices have not been changed. An immediate rush of smokers to secure supplies, as higher prices come into force on Saturday, resulted, hiit the shopkeepers retaliated by declaring that their stocks were cleared out.—A. and N.Z.
