HAWERA SCHOOL.

CELEBRATION OF JUBILEE TO-MORROW (FRIDAY.)

An event of the very greatest interest and importance to- tne community of Hawera will take place to-morrow afternoon and evening, when the jubilee of commencement of work in the school will be celebrated, To mark the occasion the school wi 1 be open to old pupils and any others interested, and will be received by the headmaster, Mr F. A. Bates. In the evening, at the Winter Show Buildings, the celebration will take the form of a social and dance. At the social speeches will be made by Mr J. \V. Harding (chairman of the School Committee), his Worship the Mayor (Mr E. A. Pacey), Messrs J. it. Corrigan and 0. Hawken,. M’s.P.,.J. B. Murdoch (chairman of the 'County Council), 1.. A. Bone (a former chairman of the committee), M. A. Collins and S. J. Smith (chairmen of the Wanganui and Taranaki Education Boards), and A. Lees (ex-chairman ot Taranaki Board), and Mr F. A. Bates (headmaster). f llien will follow speeches by old scholars. The Hawera Municipal - Band will play outside the hall, and will also give seections in the hall, and McDonald’s orchestra will contribute items. In addition there will be songs and recitations and instrumental items by Misses M. Dixon, C. Tait, Carroll, M. King, Messrs E. Sargent, I\. Watts, and B. McDonald. The whole programme will be very interesting, and will serve to give old pupils and any old masters who can be present an opportunity of renewing friendships. The general arrangements are in the capable hands of Mrs J. P. Page (lion, secretary) and the chairman and an energetic committee.
