CORRESPONDENCE.
MAIN SOUTH ROAD
(To the Editor.) Sir, —While travelling to Hawera along the Main South Road from the late toll gate 1 could not help thinking of the great rejoicing a few weeks ago when the toll gates were taken away. But, Mr. Editor, the .above road was nearly impassable before the gates were erected, and L may say that now the gates are gone the same road is fading away fast, and even the bridge will soon need a few loads of gravel to fill up the large hole in it beiore someone falls through. Some of the by-roads, such as the Sutherland and Lower Inaha Roads, will be perfect streets compared with the above if it gets much worse. —I am, etc., RATEPAYER. Manaia, May 12, 1925.
