The Colonial Secretary (Mr. Amery), in air interview by the Australian Press Association, said that- Air. Massey’s death was a great less, not only to' New Zealand, but also to the Empire “1. feel a sense of personal loss in the departure of an old friend,” he said. “I. had the pleasure ami the privilege of knowing Mr. Massey foi many "years, and during the war as Secretary in the Imperial War Cabinet 1917-18 came into close contact with him. What impressed me most was the broad serenity of his outlook during those anxious times and his unswerving (confidence in ultimate victory, no matter how dong the struggle continued. However difficult were the problems to be faced, one always knew that Air. Massey was prepared to play up .for the common good, and ho believed with unwavering faith, that New Zealand stood with, him. He was a most lovable, warm-hearted, genuine man.”

Three memorial services will be held in St. Paul’s Cathedral, at First Church, and at Knox Church —at the hour when the cortege leaves Parliament House. AT HAAVERA.
