OTAKEHO.

(From Our Own Correspondent). PUBLIC HALL SOCIETY. The annual meeting of the above was held in the hall on Saturday, May D, Mr. E. T. Burke presiding over a good attendance of members. The secretary read the annual report and balance-sheet, which dealt fully with the affairs of the society. The balance-sheet disclosed a very satisfactory credit balance. The chairman,- in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, complimented the members on the sound financial position of the society. He also remarked that to have a hall free of debt and with a credit balance, was a great credit to the risidents of the district. He thanked those members who had attended the meeting, but would have liked to have seen at least double the number present, and all taking a lively interest in the hall affairs. The adoption of the report and balance-sheet was seconded by Mr. Mudford aiicl carried.

Election or officers. —-This resulted as follows :

Chairman : ' Air. Burke was rc-elect-ed. ‘Deputy chairman: It was decided that, "as Mr. Burke was often away and engaged on other matters that a deputy chairman should he elected to fill hi s place when necessary. Mr. E. Putt was appointed to the position. Secretary and treasurer: J. Daley was re-elected. Auditors: Messrs E. Willis and C. A. Burke were re-elected. Committee : The following members were elected as a committee for the ensuing year. —L. Mackie, L. Mudford, S. C Fleming, W. Svmmans seme, T. McVinnie. AY. Haddock, AV. Syminans jnr., and A. Laurie. On the motion of the chairman, votes of thanks were accorded to the auditors, to the outgoing committeemen, and last, but not least, to the ladies who were ever ready and willing to assist at any function held in connection with the hall. \ A vote of thanks to the chairman for the manner in which he had looked after the society’s affairs during the year was carried and the meeting conclude cl. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. At the conclusion of the annual meeting the newly appointed committee met. The chairman extended a cordial welcome to the newly elected members of the committee, and said he felt that they would be an acquisition to the society. He also expressed a wish that the committee would pull together and make anything that was taken up a success. It was resolved that a grand ball be held on AA r eclnesday, May 20, in aid of the hall funds, also that a meeting of ladies be called for F'ridav, Alay 10, at 2 p.m. to make arrangements re supper, etc. Preliminary arrangements in connection with the ball were gone into, and from the enthusiasm shown it should be one of the most successful dances held in the district. .M AAIAHTIS A-ACCINE. I understand that a start is to be made on the herds in the district on Alav 18, with the vaccine treatment for "mammitis which has proved so successful in the AVaikato and other districts, and any farmer desirous of having his herd treated and nob having applied, should do so this week to the secretary or president of the Farmers’ Union.
