OFFICIAL LANGUAGE FOR SOUTH AFRICA. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION- -COPYRIGHT CAPETOWN, May 10. An historic joint session of the two Houses unanimously passed an amendment to the Constitution, whereby Afrikaans, a localised form of Dutch, was declared to be the official lang; age of the Union. The Dutch members paid a warm tribute to the sympathetic co-opera-tion of their English colleagues. ' They expressed the hope -that- it was the beginning of a new era of understanding.—Reuter.
