Thomas Meighan was crowned King of Motion Pictures for U)2b at the annual ball of the Theatre Owners’ Chamber of Commerce, held in the Hotel A s tor, New York. lie be Daniels, another Paramount,-star, shared the throne with Jiim, having been elected Queen. The two him stars were crowned with elaborate ceremony in the grand ball room. Meighan already is Shepherd of the Lambs, the. oldest and most celebrated organisation of actors in the United States, embracing a membership of more than sixteen hundred persons; so his election as King of the Movies gives Tom about all the honour even his broad shoulders can carry. At a political meeting in Bradford a candidate, in the warmth’of his peroration, exclaimed : “This gentleman proves conclusively that Mr (his opponent) has not a leg to stand on.” “All the more reason why he should have the seat,” was the witty response of a man at the back.
