Having successfully bred’up his grade herd to produce over 3001bs fat per head, he started in and bought cautiously a. few pedigree females. These were “Beautiful May,” a full sister to “Madam Mayflower” (7631b5. fat, gold medal), and “Jersey Bank Sylvia” and “Jersey Bank Polly’s Gem,” two of Mr Hodgkinson’s heavy producers. Tn the selection of herd sires lie was equally cautious, with the result that to-day he has a herd of pretty workers.
