Reports of successes in Morocco have only partially allayed the growing apprehensions that a big campaign lies ahead of the French forces. General Colom hat’s column arrived before Biblnne and encountered so 1 idly organised Riffs in successive lines of trenches, covered by remarkably accurate artillery fire, suggesting that Europeans were working the guns. The latest news indicates that the French stemmed the enemv advance, though a number of Frencn posts are sti I*l beThe French have re-established the posts southward of the Ouergha River and expel’ed the invaders, precluding a fresh Riff offensive in the direction of a Taaa Fez. The fact that the Riffs hold the Biblano Hills prevented the French victualling several posts in the vicinity, and they are compelled to drop food from aeroplanes. They also dropped blocks of ice for water.
