TARANAKI RUGBY UNION.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. At the meeting of the Management Committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union last night there were present Messrs J. McLeod (chair). W. A. Guy, R. R. Tyxer, E. li. Young, W. B. Eearon, S. M. Whyte, J. Garcia, J. Goodwin, L. J. Fiurie, A. E. Neilson, A. J. Papps and the secretary (Mr S. Neilsen). GENERAL. The action of the sub-committee set up to define the boundary between Inglewood and Clifton was confirmed. It was reported by the chairman that the committee set up to go into the matter of grounds had agreed to take one of the Tukapa grounds at a rental of £ls. A telegram was received from the N.Zi Rugby Union to the effect that the touring team for New South Wales would be chosen on Saturday, May 16. The union was requested to nominate players. The action of the executive in granting the Okaiawa Clpb permission to play three members of * the Waimate Club, Birchall, McGuire and Hughes, was approved. Mr Jas. Garcia was appointed manager for the Taranaki team at Wanganui on June 3. He was also selected to arrange the competition for the Harris Cup in the Rahotu district. Mr J. McLeod was appointed chairman of the Selection Committee.

For the fifth grade competition in New Plymouth—two High School and one Technical team from New Plymouth and two Technical teams from Strktford—a subsidy was authorised of £3 per team. The conditions were that the members of the teams must he under 16. An endeavour will be made to arrange a match between Wanganui Technical College and New' Plymouth High School for July 4 at Hawera, with a primary schools match as a cur-tain-raiser.

The Wednesday Union in Hawera acknowledged the permission granted them to play first juniors, and for-' warded £4 4s, being 10s 6d each for eight teams. It was decided to classify Ruru Sam, who had played for Waimate mid-week team, as a senior. Urenui was granted use of colours red, with white hand. A request from this club to play juniors was referred to the New Plymouth members.

In regard to grounds in New Plymouth, it was suggested to take the Western Park, sports ground, and so he enabled to close Pukekura Park for two or three Saturdays and effect a saving thereby. A donation of £1 Is was 'received from Dr. Walker who acknowledged receipt of a complimentary ticket. A vote of thanks was passed to him, and it was resolved that the amount be devoted to the Primary Schools Union. It was resolved to reply to Rahotu, in regard to pla'yer s being taken from them by Opunake, that it had the right to appeal to the Union.

Mr. G. W. Slade acknowledged his appointment as delegate to the New Zealand Rugby Union. The Mokoia Settlers’ Association was granted permission to hold a seven-a-side tournament. REINSTATEMENTS.

It was decided to allow reinstatements as follow: Senior to first junior, Clifton, J. Slight; Stratford, H. Gush and F. Chard; Waitara, Kawhe; Inglewood United, Sutherland; Okato, W. West; Patea. Tangipo and G. Wills; Star, W. Deem and- F. Arden. First to second junior: N.P. Old Boys, F. Dennis. In the case of McGregor, Moss, Watson and Tate (Clifton), it was left to the New Plymouth Executive to deckle.

Senior to- junior.—Wha-re-ron Club, A. Raiterson, refused, he having been a, representative; Opunake, G. MeIvor and W. Litchwa-rk, granted. Hawera -were granted permission to play La,very and W. Rei, and Kaponga to play w. McCook, all Wairiiiaite players.

North Auckland at Wfiangarei, October 1;. v. Auckland at Auckland, October 3.

In connection with matches with Auckland, after discussion it was resolved That in return for the special match on September 19 with Auckland, at New Plymouth, . the expense being borne b,v Auckland, Taranaki would go North a*nd play North Auckland at Whangarei on October 1 and Auckland at Auckland on October 3. Bay of Plenty Union wrote asking if a tour could be arranged through Taranaki. They were to go to, Auckland and North Auckland, and they wanted to play Taranaki, Wanganui, and Manawatii. The suggestion was made that two matches be phyed in this province—against Taranaki at New Plymouth' on Saturday September 26, and on the' following Wednesday, September 30 against the West Coast Natives—Ratana, Rata and Taranaki — at Hawera.- These last two were- accepted, the amount necessary being guaranteed by the union. RAYLY SCHOLARSHIP.

Some discussion took place on the date and conditions for holding the .sports in connection with the Bay.ly scholarship, and it' was iresolved that the conduct of the sports be handed over to the Primary Schools Association, and that the meeting b'e held during the September ho'idays. The president said he hoped this would increase interest in the .sports and lead to better nominations. If any revision of the by-laws were required the matter could be dealt with later. The president said that these sports had always been held at New Plymouth because the ground and fixtures were always availab’e. PRIMARY SCHOOLS. The Primary Schools’ Union is to- ho informed that the matter of arranging for the disposal of the cup- presented by -the Canadian people for competitions among primary schools, was referred to the incoming executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union. It was decided to make a grant of £25 towards the work of the Primary Schools Union. The chairman said that- the whole of Greater Taranaki was now included in the one scheme, and it was worthy of their supoort. Mr L. J.
