DEATH AT DINNER.
COLLAPSE OF A SPEAKER, by cable —press association— copyright. LONDON, May a. Mr Georg© Whale, while presiding at a nationalist dinner in connection with the Huxley centenary, fell dead after delivering a speech in which he attacked Christianity. Mr. Whale’s sallies caused much laughter among the 217 guests, but a few moments after lie had finished only hushed whispers were heard, for he * collapsed in his chair. Artificial respiration was tried but failed lo restore him.
Mr. Whale, who was 70 years of age held various professional and local Government appointments, and was one of the founders of the Omar Khayyam and Pepys Clubs. He was Mayor of Woolwich lor a term and on several occasions contested Parliamentary elections. '
