RAILWAY DISASTER.

ALARM IN POLAND

ONE OF SEVERAL INCIDENTS. POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE ATTACHED. RY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRJGHT. (Received Mav 4, 11.15 a.m.) WARSAW, May 3. There is great concern in Poland in regard to the catastrophe to the German train when passing through the Polish corridor. The general opinion is that the object of the perpetrator was to discredit Poland by creating an impression that Germany cannot safely exercise the right of transit through the corridor. It is feared that Germany will use the incident as an argument for the abolition of the corridor. It is stated that several similar but smaller incidents have, recently occurred in different parts of Poland.—Reuter. [The catastrophe referred to in the above message was the derailment of an express train, as a result of which 24 passengers were killed and 20 injured. The derailment was caused bv bolts being removed from the sleepers of the permanent way.]
