WHEAT SUPPLIES.

PURCHASE OF NEW ZEALAND STOCK. PREPARING FOR NEXT SEASON. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, May 2. Regarding the arrangements made between the Government, the wheat growers and the millers concerning supplies of wheat, Mr. Collins, secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce states that he will be in Christchurch towards the end of next week to meet the millers’ committee, and to discuss with members the questions of prompt purchase of the New Zealand wheat that is available, also the distribution of the imported wheat which will lie undertaken later by the Government on behalf of the millers. An important meeting is to be held at Ashburton on Thursday by representatives of the wheat growers and the millers’ organisation to discuss matters in connection with next year’s crop, with the object of ensuring a payable price and a sufficient area being sown to meet requirements.
