The fowl wheat market isi -less excited than last week, when rumouris of a wheat increase prompted spirited buying. To-day quotations are from Id to 2d a bushel easier, being (i.s 9d f.tv.b... sacks extra. 'Jlhe oat. market is firm, with little movement in it. So far as Oanterbury is concerned grade oats will be in small supply in proportion to fo‘#l. but the hea.vv yield of low grade stuH' must continue to have a, lowering tendency on the market for good white oats.

Potatoes are as previously quoted, viz.. £3 10s on trucks for prompt, and a shade more for June-July'delivery. At this range farmers are sitting back. The early planted crops are turning omt very satisfactorily, although some small areas have been drowned out, hut later, planted field* are not so good. Ryegrass, cocksfoot and clovers are dull in sale with no difference in quotations. There, is a fair demand for good bright chaff at on to £3 15s on trucks, hut the cost of sacks eats iso h.eavilv into the price that farmers are generally prepared to leave the cha.fi where -it is. in the stacks. RCRNSIDE MARKET. DUNEDIN, April 29. An unusually large number of sheep were forward at Burnside to-day, though there was only a small entry of fat cattle.. The latter were only of medium quality. Fat Cattle. —There was a small yarding, principally cows and heifers. A rise of 10-s was recorded early in the sale and varied towards the close. Extra prime light weight bullocks sold at from 35s to 38s per 100 lbs; medium quality and heavy weights bullocks. 33s to 355; prime heifers 32s 6d to 355; light heifers to 3256 d ; cows 18s to 22is fid. Fat Sheep.—A very big entry was composed principally of ewes. The quality on the whole was good. Bidling commenced at about 3s lower than last week’s prices, and as the sale processed a further drop was noticeable, he sale finishing about 5s below last week’s rates. Lambs.—The quality was medium throughout with the exception of a few ftpiis of honvv lambs which sold i*p to 45s 9d. Prime lamb went, from 37s to £2; medium up to 36s 6cl; small and unfinished from 25s to 335. Prime lamb -old on a basis of ]od to 1 Old ; second quality 9d to lOd. Pigs.—Heavy bnconers sold at were penned. Heavy haconers sold at rates similar to last’week’s, hut porkers were a shade easier.

ADDINGTON MARKET. At the Addington mfirket, the vardings all round were smaller. Store and fat sheep sold at improved prices, but fat cattle were hack slightly. Store sheep.—The best of ewes sold at an improvement, as did forward lambs, hut wethers and indifferen* ewes wore unaltered. Eat Lambs. —A firmer sale for the best export sorts which made up tr 12pi. a lb. Fat Sheen. —An average yarding anu an improved sale by up to Is a head. The quality was much better than usual. Fat, Cattle.—Another large entry. The sale was weaker. Best bee; averaged from 325. 6d. t,o 365. per 100 lbs., secondary 295. 6d. to 325., light 255. to 285., and potter beef 17s. fid. to 225. fid. Dairy Cattle. —A good sale for cows at profit,. Best £lO to £ls 10s; best heifers £9 to £l3 ss. ; medium £5 to 68 Bs.

LONDON WOOL SALES. Messrs. Dalgety and Coy. Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house under date of 25th instant: —“Wool market is very quiet. We-expect a decline in merinos of 5 per cent, to 71 per cent.; in crossbreds of 7i per cent, to 10 per cent, at the. forthcoming sales. Our selling dates are 7th, 15th and 20th May. The sales will close on May -1, unless offerings are reduced. Offerings are now declared at 135,000 hales.’’
