PRINCE OF WALES.

RECEPTION AT CAPETOWN. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. CAPETOWN, May 1. The Prince of Wales has arrived at Capetown and was welcomed by large crowds. The crowds at Capetown are nob noted for their demonstrative enthusiasm, but it is generally admitted that the Prince’s welcome far surpasses anything previously experienced. The illuminations are on a scale hitherto unknown. The principal streets are dense masses of Europeans, coloured natives and Indians mingling in common enthusiasm. It was remarked during the morning that the Prince’s famous smile was not so much in evidence as usual, but his demeanour and affability generally made the happiest impression. Undoubtedly the long looked for visit has commenced under the most favourable auspices The Prince was installed as Chancellor of the Capetown University.
