NORMANBY SCHOOL JUBILEE.

(To the Editor)

Sir, —Discussing with one of the old pupils of the original .Normanby School the recent correspondence m your paper, as to when the jubilee year of the school should occur, we came to the conclusion that the original school was built by the then Patea Education Board, of which Mr. Thomas Aliddlemas was chairman; and, that it was built just about where your correspondent “Matariki” says it was. A Mr. Weiss was the first teacher for a short period, followed by a Mr. Inomson (perhaps with a “p”) —so another person declares, wmuwhom i discussed the matter, because, as he says he had played chess with him, but i know nothing of him. 'then came John Harre "first innings, as borne out by the 187 b log-book) followed by J. C. Hill, followed by W, A. AlcCutchan, followed by John Harre (second inuin>>s) i am inclined to think the latter half of 1875 saw the original school erected, and possibly Mr. Leo. ,Svme, seiir., could name the builder probably' Tom North of Pfitea. — 1 am, 01,(* * C. E. GIBSON. H.awera, April 25.
