Air 11. Bree, chief postmaster at New Plymouth, has been appointed chief postmaster of the Wapganui district. Air. G. T. Ormsby, who has been Postmaster at Patea for some years, has retired on superannuation, and will be leaving shortly for Wanganui, where lie will reside in future.—Press. A very’ fitting tribute to the popular town clerk of Hawera, Air H. S. Elliott, was paid by r the Afayor at last night ’s meeting of the Borough Council, specially' in connection with the arrangements for the merging of Nolantown with the borough. The Atayor said that AD’ Elliott’s good work had, greatly expedited the enrolment of residents in that, suburb. The arrangements also made by him in connection with the adjustment of loans and rates, which mot with strong approval from, the Government Audit Office, were of very' great value to the Council.
