RUGBY.

* * - OLD BOYS (N.P.) CLUB. The report presented at the annual meeting stated, inter alia, that, the club had had an all-round successful season, five teams having entered for the various competitions. This was said to he equal, to any other club taking part, and marked a distinct advance in the affairs of the club generally. The committee made a strong appeal to members retired from the game to come forward and lend their help in coaching and a general effort to improve the standard of the play. Reference was made to the fact that Brewster, one of the senior team; was selected for the representative team for last season and showed good form. The past season had been the most successful the club had had financially, the returns from gates having been very satisfactory. There was an excellent attendance of about .100, testifying to the interest being taken in the affairs of the club. Twenty new members were elected. It was decided to accept an offer from Mr Kggleton to conduct physical training courses during the season in. order to keep members fit. In regard to the programme of matches for the season, the committee resolved, if necessary, to support the Malone scheme as against the McLeod scheme, but it added that it preferred the North and South Divisions in preference to either. \ COMING EVENTS. Among the interesting fixtures in the early part of the season are the seven-a-side tournament at Kapongri on Easter Saturday, the matches Stratford v. an outside team on Easter Monday, and New Plymouth v. Gisborne Old Boys on Easter Saturday. Another attraction for Easter Monday will be the visit of "Wanganui Technical Old Boys to Taranaki, when they will nlay at New Plymouth. It would be a wise move to try to get them also for Hawera.
